im 26 with 3 years NCB and the best quote I got was with Aviva for 1600-1700.

The whole, under 25 thing, may screw you though.

Worst I got was over 4k from RSA. They are great for standard cars but terrible for performance cars apparently.

Went for something a bit less powerful in the end.

1600 sounds very high, last year I was 22 and was getting quotes for S2000's and DC2's and they both came in at around 1800, I'm now paying 1450 for my DC2. OP, just start ringing insurance companies

Ye think il have to just ring around and see what i can get?? I tried 2 years ago and EVERY insurance company i tried said no, they dont insure performance cars.

    Where did you get 1800??
Any ways of lowering the price of insurance, like, maybe putting a very high excess on it or getting a hardtop for it??

123.ie quoted me on it last year, they also quoted me on Accord Type R too, but not if they were Jap Imports. I was with Quinn and told them I would be canceling at renewal because they wouldn't quote me on the 'teg, but they then quoted me and it was the same as 123 so I stuck with them.

Went up this year by 400 quid because of insurance rates so they said so I changed to TPFT and it's 1400. I ain't sure if 123 are still covering performance cars though because Travellers stopped doing them AFAIK.

Did you not say before that you drive a DC5 Integra? The S2k should be cheaper to insure than the 'teg

Ye i had a dc5 for 5 months, paid €2200 on that for a year so got a good chunk back when i swapped.
Quinn insured me on that but it took a good bit of arguing on my part.

Just thought the s2k would be more due to more bhp and of course that soft top!
Soft tops are usualy more, aren't they??

They are such a nice car

    Try First Ireland Brokers.

I'm 24 with 5 years NCB and they got me insured with Setanta on a Jap RX8 for €1550 last december.

Does anyone know if putting a high excess on the policy will bring it down a good bit??

It depends on the insurance company. Some dont offer the option, others do. It may or may not make a huge difference.
