From what I have been told John Moloney has got the Honda franchise back and is moving into the former Motorzone premises on the Dock Road.

I'd say that premises is too small for all his cars? Regardless, I hope he isn't gone, although he's not the cheapest!

Crap loved looking at the cars in the lot on the way to work each day.

He is meant to have been building in the vacant lot across from the huge toyota garage just down the road from him (more or less beside Lyons). Spent an absolute fortune draining the place as it was filling up with water when ever it rained!

Not sure what is happening now.

He should really stay out the Ballysimon side of town. That appears to be where all the dealerships are popping up now and it would be handy to have them all grouped nearby each other. Its handy if you are used car shopping.

He has some sh*t stock in the dealership though and some hard to shift items. Hummer, few Motorhomes and some jeeps to name a few bad choices.

The Honda Civic is not a great seller recently with too much stiff competition and the Accord is way overpriced. Its not a "marque" I would like to be trying to sell in this market.

If he can get a nice looking dealership it might intice more people in off the street.

Was looking for a car last year as mine had been stolen. Needed something to get me around for a few months. Visited him there he had a 96 Honda civic 1.4 saloon with 170,000 on the clock. Love that car as had one before. I sold it in 2005 with 120,000 k's on the clock, for 1950 euro. He took me in to the office and worked out a price with me, 2500. I walked out and will never go back to him again. That's the way I am, wouldnt drop his price and therefore lost out on a customer who would have been looking to upgrade in a few months.

Similar story. He had a car for €4,500 for sale and I offered €3,500 because that was the market value of the car. He refused to sell it to me and 4 months later I saw an old work colleague driving it through a car park. I asked her how much she paid €2,900. His loss.

It's a shame really, to lose out on a few grand all because of a bit of greed. I'm sorry though that's the way I see his outfit. Safe to say I have a friend who buys and sells quality, gives a decent price, he makes profit you drive away with a solid car. What more do you want.

Honda have never sold in huge volumes like Ford or Toyota. They do still have a loyal customer base though and will continue to do so I would think.

A ot, yes the Accord is expensive but is still cheaper than a bog standard Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series considering it is a larger car. They are also not two a penny which is a big plus to me. The A4 and 3 Series are too common these days, used as a status symbol during the Celtic tiger years.

The new accord is a nice car, but would agree it's a bit expensive for the honda brand. Frank hogan seems to be the best value garage at the moment.

    Frank Hogan ain't cheap either.

If you want the best deals then be prepared to travel outside the city. I have found city dealers to be in a little world of their own when it comes to prices. I suppose someone has to pay for all those expensive glass palaces and high rates.

I agree, carzone is a good guide !

Frank Hogan does what he does very well.

John Moloney right now does not.

Frank Hogan managed to sell that White Porsche Cayenne yesterday and has some good value used Mercs. If you notice his VW side that they are all registered 781,782,783,784 etc.

This would have been either 2009 stock registered at the turn of 2010 or fleet come back to roost.

Either way he will be around a while.

John Moloney has never had much of a name around Limerick. All the Accords I have seen late 2009+ are all fleet cars from Dublin fleet companies. I have yet to see one from John Moloney.

The accord is only marginally cheaper than the BMW but has a better spec. The problem is the only people buying Hondas from him are middle aged - eledery woman buying poverty spec Civics.

The same applies to Subaru. They lost their arse when they change the impreza and the legacy just looks awful.

If John Moloney can get himself a big glass showroom then maybe there is a good place to start but siting himself in a shed next to the awful LMC is doing him no favours.

The Motorzone was stuffed with cars today and they knocked a wood panel wall that was used to fill a gap with more cars aswell

I saw them knocking that the other day but moreso I could see through the gap. I didn't even know that area was there all gravelled off. You could fit a hell of a lot of cars in there.

Heard from someone doing work down there, that himself & tom kilroy have gone into partnership & have got the Honda franchise, how true this is I don't know.
