For a beginner i would sugest you look into the G&G popular range. People swear by them. :)

I think the G&G Raider wins that by popularity alone. Performance is something ridiculous too.

The raider is a great gun. The only weak point is its motor but that can be easily changed when it goes

Get any gun you want, for 250 you will can get a good model aeg of most types of gun you want.

m4, ak, g36, aug, mp5 and so on.

It its just a generic aeg you want get what has been recommended above I suppose.

I've never come across a motor with a problem in them? It's actually a pretty quick one for a stock motor.

Sam, you won't get an AUG for €250 anymore. That's going back to JG territory, which are straight out unavailable.
You can get an MP5 for about that though, that is true. A handful of AK's are floating around for about it too, usually very small quantities of Cyma offerings.
The SRC G36 Gen III is about that price too, isn't it? I heard good things about them but Gatlings one has been less than inspiring from his stories about it.

You're right though, there are plenty of options available for that price. It's just a case that the Raider seems to be the new JG G36c.

I never owned the Raider specifically, but I've had the M4A1 equivalent in the G&G Popular range. I bought it specifically just to get the gearbox out of it to put into another gun. The gun in question already had a G&P M130 motor in it, but the motor from that M4 ended up in yet another G&G high end, and has never, to this day, given a moment of trouble.

Must be the chinese clampdown then, I havn't bought an aeg new in a while now so I am out of touch.

Gunner seem to have gotten in a restock of Kalash ak's though, so they are available there for now.

JG seem to be gone altogether though lately.

The way it's going at the moment, DBoys/Kalash are shipping their unassembled parts somewhere else for assembly and shipping. It's resulting in a trickle of a limited range of their products being available. When Gunner say they have them in stock, it's entirely possible they're talking about single figure numbers in stock.

The Chinese situation has pretty much eradicated any chance of getting a sub-€200 AEG of any type. Every now and then a retailer will get lucky and nab a couple of one thing, or a half dozen of another, but that's as far as it's going. The days of ambling down to your local airsoft store and picking up a JG G36c or a Kalash AK74 for €160 are history. If you want an AUG now, you need to go for the TM or CA offerings.

The role in airsoft that's hit most by this, if it was to be viewed in such a way, is the beginner sniper. Well's L96's have vanished, and JG's BAR10's are a long way off too, leaving the cheap end of the reliable bolt-action rifle market to TM's VSR line.
