iPod Touch 8 Gig syncs to PC but has no music on it.

My daughter has a 9 month iPod Touch 8 Gig and iTunes on the PC.
When she synchs the iPod to the PC, if that's the correct term, all appears to work well. When she looks at the iPod there's no music on it.
I've gone to the Apple website and hopefully I've followed all the answers in the FAQ section. Still no joy. For the record, I've updated the iPod software and uninstalled and reinstalled the iTunes software on the PC.
Is this the end of the road for the iPod ?
