Koran burning in Oldham, Lancashire by the BNP crowd, typical of them to jump on the bandwagon.

I call for a fatwah on the BNP.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Not where bigotry is concerned.

OP: Take a look on youtube for videos of Qur'an and Bible burnings. There's literally hundreds. Ultimately, it is not the value of the paper that is important, it is the values of the words on the paper that count.

If the Tanakh, Bible, Qur'an, Vedas, etc etc aren't divinely inspired, then they are just paper. The paper isn't valuable, it's what the words say.

N.B - Post isn't condoning book burning, but saying that this whole thing is just overplayed. These people don't deserve the attention they are getting.

Present to me a more bigoted action than the Islamic Fatwa.

It happened this evening. A friend of mine (an onlooker) just called me, said police were called in to seperate a crowd that had gathered at the towns war memorial where this incident had happened. It maybe on the BBCs northwest link? Apologies I can't be more specific.

Who gives a fcuk what the slow-witted members of the BNP think or do?

Most of them are toothless inbred white trash.

Present to me a more bigoted action than the Islamic Fatwa.

A legal statement of condemnation against an individual who could be from any religion? If not, then I misunderstand the phrase and I apologise.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The thing that gets me is that a religious group gets their knickers in a twist over this (probably rightly so) about a year after issuing death against journalists for drawing a cartoon that they found offensive.

The Danish cartoons were in September 2005. It didn't take four years for death threats to be issued.

That just shows how closely you've been following the stories.

Still havn't seen anything on this story.
And I imagine in the current religious climate it would've made headline news in no time at all.

Must just be a lot of hot air

I've burned a Bible, Qur'an, Tanakh, Tao De Ching and Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health so far. Let's see the media kick up a storm about that! :pac:

No, There doesn't appear to be any media coverage of it. But I did wonder if they were keeping it out of the media with fear of a repeat of the Oldham race riots in 2001.

Maybe its because its just a small group, hardly worth reporting to be honest.

IF - IF true, the best thing the media can do, is give it no coverage whatsoever.

    ...And stuff the BNP.
