Hi any X-Trail owners out there ? wondering how economical hey are , how many miles to the gallon, would you buy another one and just generally is there anything to watch out for with them. the missus is looking at a 06 model today and would like to go prepared.
thanks in advance for any tips.

My wife has an 04 2.2dci, generally we are extremely happy with it. it does about 38mpg (Has a good 6 speed gearbox), it is also surprisingly fast for a 4x4. The only downside is that it has had a new turbo and intercooler. Both of these were done under warranty luckily!!

They also have the best cup holders I have ever seen on any car!!!

Blown turbo is a very common problem on the 2.2dci X-Trail so be careful as it happend to two people with them I know at work.

Thanks folks, any easy way to know by looking at it if the turbo is about to go ? and any ideas how much it would cost to fix that if were not under waranty ?

No real way to see without driving it. It's easier to spot of the intercooler is going - if there is oil around the seal underneath then its started to leak, and will only get worse.

    My review/opinion here

I would buy from a Nissan dealer and get a 12 month warranty if I were you.

My OH loves her '04 2.2dci and does serious mileage in it. The turbo and intercooler problems are known, but on a '06 they'd probably have happened at this stage.

    Is it a 2x4 or 4x4?
