I was wondering if hubble might stumble upon some image that shows a massive enginerred structure built by some highly advanced race . or maybe no telescope could see such things if they existed and were truly massive. Maybe they have and are hiding the fact till an appropriate time.

Very surprised if Hubble could see any object built by ET. It would have to be truly masive as you said bigger tan the most massive star and even the size of a solar system if it was far enough away.

Maybe they have and are hiding the fact till an appropriate time.
Ohhhhh easy now... don't start with that kind of talk:) Down with that kind of thing:D

That looks similiar to the Norse, Moscow and Japan spiral reported earlier this year. Interesting, SG1 anyone?

It looks spectacular but, what is this almost perfect greenish coloured sphere ?
I've put a yellow box around it as it's hard to explain exactly where it is in the original photo...

To answer my own question, it might just be jpeg artefacts - here is the fullsize original photo as a .tif image where it's not as clearly defined as a spherical object.

    http://www.spacetelescope.org/static/archives/images/original/potw1020a.tif

It's 6.7Mb, just a warning in case you go to download it on your mobile or something.
