Just wondering would powercity install a dishwasher where there hasn't been one before. I.e plumbing electrics etc done? And if so any idea how much extra this would be?

I would think their installation amounts to connecting up the water hose if there is a spare water outlet available and tapping into the under-sink drain pipe for the waste water. Usually there is an electrical socket near the washing machine.

What do you mean a spare water outlet? There would be a plug socket alright.

If the house / apartment has been built in the last 25 years, it is probably already plumbed for a diswasher.

If it isn't, then you'll need to get plumber in to do the work.

My guess is the power city installation would only extend to connecting up the dishwaher to the plumbing outlets already there.

Tip - if you are getting in a plumber, check to see if you need any other things done such as outside tap, checking rads etc as you'll be paying for call out anyway and extra bit of work won't cost much extra.

this is harsh but is fact --

on powercitys website they advertise ' our drivers offer an install service.......'

this is how they distance themselves from problems -you dont pay powercity you pay the driver ,so if there is a problem 6 months down the line its nothing to do with them .

if a problem arises and you try to claim off your house insurance ,what do you think they will say when you tell them a DRIVER installed my cooker/washer/dishwasher and it leaked/caught fire etc because of a faulty install

not only powercity ,but did electrical and others have thier drivers installing the past 6 months -used to have qualified people doing it but cheaper to use unqualified drivers to do it

Knighted is bang on there. If something leaks or worse, power city will not be liable. I doubt these drivers even have public liability insurance

You're always better off getting a plumber/electrician to install home appliances. Yes they may be dearer, but imagine if your house got damaged just for you to save a few quid, and your insurance wouldn't cover it.

stole this quote from another website ,seems apt

The famous American oil-rig fire-fighter Red Adair’s standard response to queries about his prices was: “If you think it is expensive to have a professional do the job, wait until you use an amateur.”
