anyone else think it looked very staged?? Tubs didnt push for answers a few times i thought he would, plus the crowd were all loving O'Dea. Maybe im wrong, but RTE is clearly in Fianna Fails corner (methinks Bertie appearing as an analyst on The Premiership, weeks before an election)

And in this 'current economic climate', is it just coincidence that the only Fianna Fail fans left, were all in the Late Late audience to support announcement that Willie O'Dea to run for a seat in the Dail??

    Opinions please . . .

Tubridy is a big FF man himself so that would explain him not pushing O'Dea on touchy issues.

That freefall programme about the banks last Monday seemed to go very easy on the governments role in the current crisis aswell, unless the one next week makes up for it. Bertie will be on it too, be interesting to see how they protray FF

Didn't see it tonight, but I do like Willie O'Dea

I would have loved to have seen it but, unbelievably for such a show, it's one which is unavailable outside of Ireland on iPlayer. As for how hard they went on them, well if you subscribe to the AH logic, the bankers and FF forced people to take out massive loans and then made all the companies go bust so that people would lose their jobs. More rational people would realise there were issues outside of the governments control which affected us yet were exacerbated by some of the decisions our government had made. One would hope that such a show would lean somewhat more towards the latter. :)

I think people are more concerned that one of their representatives is a self-admitted perjurer. Also, Willie was not only complicit in, but actively lied about the true costs of bailing out Anglo and NAMA.

I distinctly remember him saying that NAMA would turn a profit!

As for the OP. Tubridy is a member of FF. He is hopelessly biased. His last interview with Bertie Ahern was sickening to watch. But I don't think it is really a conspiracy. Its just a hack of a presenter and an audience that duly complies when the applause sign is light up.

True although I lament at the thought that anyone would listen to O'Dea when it comes to economic matters.

It at least has the possibility of doing so, only time will tell.

Yup, pretty much spot on. :o

    Yeah watched it

Tubs let him off the hook 3 or 4 times even gave him the answer to the question about when O'Dea said he was a victim over the whole affidavit controversy (Brothelgate)

It was a love-in just to get O'Dea out there and announce he will run again with lots of very happy FF plants cheering the news.

Would you be surprised if he got a junior minister position or opposition spokesman job next time?

RTE is a propaganda machine for FF.

    Watch this for example

People aren't idiots....well, not all of them atleast.

That video is from 18 months ago.

Your brain only started developing 6 months ago so I can understand the initial confusion when you witnessed on live TV, a TD forgetting their pre-written script.

RTE are hopelessly compromised because they need the fee from the TV tax (Licence) and Fianna Fail in government control that.Any goverment minister being interviewed can just mention who controls the purse strings and an easy ride is guaranteed. We laugh at the communist party in china...there brass neck, corruption and manipulation of the media.Ireland isn't much better.

It's not the biggest of secrets that Ryan is a FF fan, at the very least.

Compare and contrast his interviews with Cowen and Enda.

The reaction of the audience to the revelation that he was running for election again was rather worrying.

The suggestion that RTE is rather biased towards Fianna Fail mightnt be all that wide of the mark. Ryan Tubridys connection are well known and I often wonder about Joe Duffy
