Is this a sign of something serious or just soot shaking off the engine?

    Hello,

Had the bonnet up on my Dads E270 CDI and started her up and noticed on the driver side of the engine a lot of dust raise up and clear away.

Nothing seems up with it and it has been off the road for a week so I like to think its just soot shaking off the engine.

The engine had a diesel leak which was spraying diesel all over the engine. Fixed it and noticed the dust/smoke/stuff on first few start ups. So something to do with that?

    Thanks

could be exhaust fumes escaping at the turbo/downpipe connection caused by a blocked exhaust or maybe the clamp is broken at the same connection
