Windows 7 defrag always says 0% fragmented?

I've been running Windows 7 for almost a year now on my laptop. Never defragged once, and now my 450GB C drive is 99% full.

But everytime I analyse disc in the Windows Disk Defragger, it says the drive is 0% fragmented.

Is this possible?

Only if you set it up to defrag on a schedule, and then its rarely 100% defragged

With a hard disk thats 99% full it is bound to be fragmented

Start by deleting your browser temporary files, then delete any old system restore points that you dont need

@ 99% utilisation there will be no space to run a defrag. Then install a decent defragger like Defraggler

IIRC in order for defrag to run successfully you need at least 15% hard drive space free.

Best practices for using defragmentation in Windows 7 are simple – you do not need to do anything! Defragmentation is scheduled to automatically run periodically and in the background with minimal impact to foreground activity

It really doesn't sound like the drive is fragmented, more that it's full.
Try opening a command prompt and typing "vssadmin list shadowstorage" and let us know the results...
