    1" 25.4mm scope tube

30mm mount 30mm scope tube diameter.

The sizes are in relation to the scope tube diameter.

Mount/Ring height is a different dimension with regards to the size of the bell on the objective size of the Scope

well the scope i have has a 1 inch tube,so should i stick to the 1 inch mounts.

    Yep 1" mounts for a 1" Tube.
Thats why they ask you what tube size when offering you mounts and what objective lenses if they offer mounts in a few different heights.

Out of interest what is your scope6x42 6x50 6-24x50 etc. a 42mm objective lense can have a lower mount.
A 56mm objective lense requires a higher mount

Most mounts take up to 50mm however if you want to go over 50mm you need a higher mount.

i had a mauser that required a high mount as the bolt hit the eyepiece, however a swedish mauser was an exception

If you have a standard rifle set up standard mounts will work.

If you have a 1" scope then you need 1" rings. Are you ordering bases also? Mounts is a word to describe the both units (rings and bases):)

Expensive rifles come fitted with a rail so you do not need bases.
Remington "for example" are threaded to accept bases or a rail screws.
if you buy a remmy you have to buy a rail/mounts and rings.it's a way of cutting down on rifle costs for Remington)

Other expensive rifle manufacturers provide rail so all you have to supply is the Rings :D

Yes a medium (normal size) set of mounts should fit the scope. And leave clearence

the second smallest of these mounts would compliment your scope well IMHO

I have the 3rd largest size on a 56mm and they clear with 3 or 4 mill to spare, i'd consider exchanging them for a lower set on the stalking rifle at some point.

    Objection!!!! And GRRRRRRRR.

THAT 'tac' is 'Tackleberry', erroneously called 'tac' by some lazy spalpeen who can't be bothered to write 'Tackleberry'.

I am tac, sole user of the easy-to-pronounce version of my Irish first name, tadhg.

    Thanks.

Good choice, where did you order them from??

Prolly waaaaay too late to mention it now, but ordering 1" mounts presupposes that the OP will be fitting a 1" scope and not a 30mm scope.........

    Just a thought.

tac - the original and genuine article - accept NO substitutes.
