Nat type 3 problem for a mate

A mate moved into a new house (like 5 down from his old one) up in college, different landlord and evidently, different ISP. He tried to go online with his Ps, but once it gets to the "play online" button in the Mw2 section it stalls. He checked his connection and his nat type is 3.

He rang the landlord who eventually told him the ISP. Fast telecom or some shíte, but they're claiming they don't know a username/pass to fill in under the PPPoE part of the network settings for PS. That's the only way I know of changing it, going by the "keep it carlow" vid on Youtube.

Is anyone with Fast Telecom, or does anyone by any chance know what to fill in under the PPPoE field in the network settings test? He hasn't been online in like 3 months and is dying to play :D

    Cheers

Does he uses a router? If he does, try setting his ps3 to a static IP.
Then configure the router to port forward the required ports or else put the ps3 in a DMZ.

If he's using a router it's probably the built in firewall that's stopping him.

Yea he reckons there's a router in the attic, along with some rotting corpses :pac:. He doesn't know the make/model as of now, but he'll go into the attic for a look when he moves back.

See I haven't a clue how to port forward or put the playstation in DMZ. Once I find out what make/model it is, I'll google for a guide or something. Cheers

well i have an eircom broadband connection and router, i used to have NAT type 3 for ages, i spent months and months searching the net for solutions and spent countless hours trying to get type 2 or type 1 i almost pulled out my hair with frustration i was so pissed off with it.
    EVENTUALLY i found a solution.

i will tell you and HOPEFULLY it will work and you get type 1 or even type 2 is supposed to be very good,

    > pppoe: enter your provider username (i have eircom connection) it should be broadband1 for all eircom users

    >pppoe password: enter the password here (again you need to ring your broadband provider for this just ask them for your pppoe username and password)

    >proxy server > do not use

    >UPnP > enable
