The Munster Literature Centre is holding its annual Frank O'Connor International Short Story Festival next week in venues across the city. It runs from Wednesday 15th to Sunday 19th. A full events timetable is available here.

The festival culminates in the awarding of the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award to the best story on the shortlist. The award is, according to The Guardian, the biggest prize for a short story worldwide (€35,000).

The festival includes lots of readings, workshops, a seminar and a literary walking tour of Cork City on the final day. It should be interesting enough. I'm only a 20 minute cycle from the city centre so I'll probably be around for a few events, especially the walking tour.
