Hi ,I got a small problem and I thought it would be interesting to hear some views. Basically when I am recording from my mixer to computer my recording is all distorted and unaudable. now I have noticed the meters on screen( sony sound forge) floating around half way with a hum with nothing playing. I thought it was an earth/ground problem but that seems all right. I am going into my sound card with jack and out of the mixer with 2rca. I ve tried booth out with volume control and the regular rec out and still no joy.......... I am at wits end, please help. All views welcome.

    Could be anything:
If you're using the built in mini jack input, it needs to be set to line not mic.
Might be a gain staging issue. Does the mixer itself have any form of metering, even a peak light?
If you could post an mp3 of the noise it would be easier to diagnose. You also need to give more info on your system.
