    http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-desire-receives-performance-update
The HTC Desire is receiving an update today labelled 2.10.405.2. According to the announcement from HTC, the update will provide:

    An Android OS update patch
    Enhanced multi-inbox Gmail support
    Improved Russia keyboard layout
Thanks to Kash, who sent us the tip about the update. He mentioned that the biggest change he has noticed is that the voice input is now integrated across the OS and appears every time the keyboard is available.

Some people have commented about having wifi bricked afterwards. I've just updated ok though.

Needs minimum 25mb free to install.

Edit> has a phenomenal speed increase.

    I'm intrigued..

Did you get that screenshot from the Speedtest app? I'm also with Vodafone and find the mobile internet a bit slow.

Yeah there is a option in the app under the result tab high light the last result (or which ever one you want) and select the menu option this will give you the option to email you the results.

You will get a email with a link to a web page with this result

It broke my wifi, and I did quite a bit of searching yesterday and couldn't find any posts about it. I must have a check today and see what the people that have problems are saying now.

I put it down to me doing the update without having my Goldcard in - I've debranded an o2 Amoled and _was_ () running stock froyo.

Decided to bite the bullet and do the hboot rollback and root so I'm currently running rooted stock 2.1. Job for today is to find a nice ROM to install.

Wow a lot faster ! (htc desire)
    Faster at shutting down.
    Faster at installing apps
I'm coming from 2.1 so maybe these speed increases came at 2.2.

Like the Mic on the keyboard :)

Does it change hboot at all?

Not sure what you mean, it looks the same to me. Just says HBOOT 0.93.0001 now

not seeing this at all when I search for updates :(

would it be safe to expect that custom roms will be updated accordingly or would they have these speed upgrades already included?

I've checked for updates and have found nothing. Have HTC pulled the update until the wifi issue is fixed?

My one is on 0.92.0001 so there's been an update to hboot, unless you have one of the newer SLCD screen Desires :)

Something's going on with the power consumption since this update.
I started with a full charge at 9:30 this morning and three hours later it's down to 25% remaining.

I haven't been doing anything different than I normally do.

No have the old screen too :)

@jimmycrackcorm I thought that too... also when I was at 13% the phone began to shutdown :( going to start to look at the settings something must be taking the power...

When i switched my 3G on last night it popped up saying there was a new update available, so i said i would wait to update till i got home on my wifi, i have just tried to do it now and its saying there is no update available?

I left my 3G on while i used it as a hotspot i doubt it would of downloaded im sure you would have to agree to install it, anybody know if there is a problem with the update?

same here. Update WAS there last night, but was waiting until I get home tonight to use WIFI. But have just checked and now no update available :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 765 ✭✭✭6ix

Same for me (Meteor unbranded). I got the update notification last night when I was on 3G and forgot about it when I got home to Wifi. I'm glad I didn't update it tbh - plenty of reports of Wifi problems obviously some people on here have possible battery life problems too. Maybe HTC have pulled it until they sort out the issues.

I'm running a factory unlocked unbranded with stock unrooted 2.2 and downloaded the updated yesterday, but it's won't install, even when I deleted apps to get the free memory up to 31Mb. I tried Discarding the update and re-downloading but no joy. Have also tried rebooting after downloading. Anybody else having the same problem?

Yep, I has same problems initially. First time it said it was corrupted. Next time the update has vanished, next time it said not enough memory:mad:
Finally freed up enough memory and installed, but sadly I have no idea what has improved?:o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,751 ✭✭✭MoodeRator

It turns out it was an service that an application called Green Power was incompatible with the new upgrade and caused the issue with mobile internet.
