Hey, im looking to join the rugby club in my college but im not the fittest guy, im a few stone overweight, but am fairly strong and bulky:P, hence why im giving rugby a go, and don't know all the rules of rugby and haven't never played it with a club like.
Im just wondering from peoples experience what are these clubs like? Do they expect everyone to be fit and know all the rules or what? Any advice for me please as I dont want to arrive there and look a fool. cheers

I know UCD let you join regardless of fitness level, just for the craic.
Not sure about other colleges but I'd go ahead and ask at freshers week.

Get on an exercise/mountain bike and ramp up the intensity/gears to basically make it really hard to pedal. The idea is not to build fitness but leg muscle. That's all you'll truly need playing rugby. You're bulky and a little overweight; you sound like you'd make a decent prop. :)

Oh and you'll be fine not knowing the rules. Everyone has to start somewhere!
