Heads up there is an email virus flying around US offices at the mo with the subject 'Here you have'.

Its attacking anybody with MS Office 2007 or less, it may reach Ireland offices by tomorrow. SO DON'T CLICK THE LINK!

I wonder if news will spread world wide enough to stop the virus spreading outside the US?

On a side note; i think this is kinda cool that somebody could write a bit of code and suddenly your email has reached millions of mailboxes across the world in hours. I have received over 400 emails in less than an hour.

Is this the one that has some weird story about being overseas and in need of money or something like that?

Heard about an email going around the US like wildfire at the moment.

The email includes a link, and if you click it, it forwards the email to all the mailling lists in you MS Outlook directory. I dont think its too much more dangerous than that but it'll slow you Outlook down a lot.

It's not a random email, it's coming from someone who has you in their address book.

Yeah well I don't know about you but if a mate of mine sends a dodgy email, it's still dodgy.

Would you buy a 50 inch plasma off a mate for 10 quid with a copper next to you?

An email like that spells suspicion.

Do you know what's in the email, do you know what it says?

I'm sure it's not something stupid like that if a shítload of people have clicked it tbh, probably alot smarter than the average one, it's not trying to get money from you, I wouldn't imagine.

I retract the idiot statement btw.

Yeah but let's face it. Who in their right mind is going to download a file from a dodgy email?

But it's not a dodgy email addy, awareness is always the best way to go about things tbh.

Lots of people in offices send around pictures and chain mail to each other to keep themselves occupied in the boring parts of work, who's to know this is different, it could be worded as a funny email, just a malicious link instead of a "funny picture".

Not the email address. The email itself. I don't know many people that need/would download a .pdf file (that know what a .pdf file is).

Yeah but obviously some people do if it's spread this far...

Oh yeah, I know that. It's just a bit odd that companies have no idea about basic email awareness would help a lot.

A PDF that gives you the option to "run" after downloading is def not a PDF.People need more common sense.

I suspect this would be a problem more so for people in businesses that use exchange, more so then people with personal e-mail accounts.

If i was to receive this mail and follow through with clicking the link and DL'n the attachment...

the guts of 30,000 People all over the world would receive it. then if 1 of them was to go through it... 30,000 people again, and again and again...

this kind of thing is designed to bottleneck bandwitdh....

Anyone still running a windows machine deserves a virus. In many ways the OS itself (particularly vista and 7) could be considered a virus in its own right.

    Get a mac you idiots!

Whenever I see someone on a windows machine it reminds me of a savage caveman rubbing sticks together as they desperately try to create fire. I extend both pity and scorn to such people.

Whenever I see someone on an Apple product it doesn't remind me of anything...most of the time they're the ones reminding me that they have an Apple product at any given opportunity.

Windows is easier for most people. Macs aren;'t used enough to warrant a virus.
