    Hi,
I just got 512mb ddr ram for a pc and its single sided.
The ram in the pc is 512mb ddr double sided.
I added the new ram stick but the computer still only shows 512mb of ram.
I took out the old ram and kept in the new one and it works.
Is it because the old ram is double sided and the new one is single sided.

    Need some advice ?

What type of motherboard is it? or what type of computer is it? and can you link us to the RAM that you bought too?

Its a acer aspire g600. pc takes pc2700 ddr ram.

This is the ram I got:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/ByteStor-512MB-PC2700-333MHz-Desktops/dp/B00025E0J0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=computers&qid=1284157628&sr=8-2

That ram is single sided and the ram already in computer is double sided.

can't find any info on it really. the sides shouldn't affect it, it makes no difference. The only thing I can see that might be wrong is do you know if your computer can take 1GB of RAM? i can't get the docs on my netbook so will take a look when I get home on tuesday if that's any use but someone else might be able to help. Sorry.
