Changing a Dell laptop keyboard

A friend has split some beer on his keyboard, and some keys don't work anymore; I think the way forward is to replace it rather than try to repair.

My query is this - if I get a US layout keyboard, can I just swap a couple of keycaps from the beered-up one, and leave it on UK layout? US ones seem cheaper.

    Its an Inspiron 1300.

Id just leave the american keys on it. If you dont change the settings, u just remember that @ is down on the right rather then shift-2!
Or you can change regional settings to america, and work away.
