Hey guys jus got my new iPhone today and made the switch from meteor to 3..

I'm wondering how long will it take till my numbers been ported from meteor to 3, and how will I know its complete?

    Any help appreciated!

    EDIT:

I've just rang my old meteor number and it came throught to my iPhone but under settings it still has my number as the one that came stock witht he sim. Will this change automaticly or do i have to do it manually?

Also how long shud I wait before I top-up? They said in the shop to wait till the numbers fully ported over but I dunno when that is :S

When you loose signal on meteor it's generally fully complete.

By loose signal I mean "no service"

ring your number from a different phone.
does the new iPhone with the 3 sim in it ring?
if it does, then its fully ported.

    Yeh it rings :)

It still says in the settings that my number is the one that came with the sim, should I change this to my old number as i dont fancy learning a new one :( and is it ok to continue using my old number ?

sorry if these are stupid questions but I'm not great with all this stuff :(

if you made it clear to the 3 staff that you wanted to keep your old number then your ok.

to change the number do the following :

    settings>Phone>My Number

I'm not 100% sure if the iPhone will ever recognize the new number. It will be reading the number from the data stored with in the sim rather than the system put in place to point calls from the meteor number to you sim.

Edit: Or just can just do that ^

Is it safe to top-up now and get my free texts?

no the number is entered manually through the route i showed in my above post. go into settings, phone and my number and you can change it manually.

yep should be. just maybe ring customer care once and ask the operator if your old number is showing up on their system as a 3 number, then top up, and if you dont have a data plan, keep topping up :D

ps - have you got a data plan?

It does not matter when you top up as the credit goes onto your account not your number, if you topped up with the 083 number and then got your meteor number ported over the credit will still be on your account

it does make a difference, the OP ported from Meteor to 3, therefore they need to buy 3 credit, meteor credit will not work in this case.

You got me wrong, The number isn't entered manually at first It reads it off the sim, I assumed the user was being picky and wanted his iPhone to show his new number. I was explaining that his simcard will always think it's the 083 number and it's on three system where his number will be changed to meteor.

yeah i understand that, but you can still manually change the number on the iPhone settings page to correspond to the OP's actual number (their old Meteor number), this will then display the actual (Meteor) number in iTunes etc, thats what the OP was asking.
