Normally you can get a fada by pressing the Alt Gr key and the vowel in question. If this does not work perhaps your keyboard settings need to be adjusted...

No Alt gr key on an Android keyboard.

Press and hold the letter, options should pop up. If it doesn't (does with Better Keyboard v7), download another one from the market and try.

As a general rule of thumb with android, if options can't be found for something, press and hold!

ok, i know this isnt too much of an issue for most but there remains a thing where having fada's actually costs you more on certain irish operators! ie-a single message could cost you 3 times the normal amount on O2 just because you have a fada. Dont know if its been fixed since I heard but be wary I guess...!?

    What?

I'm not saying your wrong, but I would be amazed if that was true (especially seeing as o2 are owned by telefónica, who have a fada in their name)! If so, i'd be reporting them to comreg and the NCA - given that I doubt they have it in their t&C's that fada's cost more, they are overcharging you.

no if it counts as one character - its one character.

it may not get rendered properly on the other persons phone but thats different.

It did use to be the case years ago I remember reading it.
Think it was considered a special character for some reason.
Don't think its the case anymore though.

It's to do with the GSM character set implemented

    This is the basic idea:

ye - to be safe just dont use fadas and the context of the sentence will show what the words is.
