Where would people find these parts?

    Processor
    Intel® Core™ i5-520M Processor ( 2.40GHz 1066MHz 3MB )

    Graphics
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB

    Total memory
    4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz

    Display
    14.0" HD Wide LED 1366x768

    Pointing device
    Industry Standard Touchpad

    Optical Drive
    DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)

    Battery
    6 Cell Lithium-Ion

    Network Card
    Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 1000

    Bluetooth
    Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR

Or would an AMD processor be a better option.

I moved your post to a new thread, as it wasn't really at home in the sticky. I take it you're looking for a laptop with the above specs? Or is that a laptop that you have found already?

    Acer Timeline X 4820TG
The HD 5650 is the hardest part to find as it comes standard over here with the HD 5470, but is commonly available in Europe and America.

But it is possible to loacte for UK/Irish market.

Awesome laptop btw...with and 8hour battery life and only 1inch thick.

Other similar specced options in the 14inch market would be

    HP Envy 14
(Coming to PC World soon, howver note the 5650 is underclocked  and more significantly the screen is not the Full HD Radience screen available in the US. IMO if you are not getting the Radience screen it is serverly overpriced and underspecced compared to the acer.)

    Lenovo y460

Asus N82 ( Nvidia G335M alternative), possibly some of the K and U series.

Sony V series (if you are loaded!)

    Dell 14z???

However most of these are very hard to locate however for Irish market outside of importing (= +21%)

Importing from the UK or Europe for that matter will not incur any import duties. So unless it's he/she is importing from the states or beyond they've got little to worry about.

Although you have to remember that importing from europe will likely end up with a non-english keyboard and OS language. May require elements of modding that many are not comfortable with. And may effect warrenty issues.

not if you got windows 7 ultimate :) yes the keyboard might have diff letters on it but you can change the language by downloading a ms provided language pack.
