EU wants a common corporation tax in all states

This would be disastrous for Ireland. There are hundreds of companies across the world doing business through Ireland to avail of the low corporate tax. Most will stop if this is a common rate across the EU and thats tax the government can't afford to lose.
"Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan speaking on RTÉ Radio said he welcomes that the proposals acknowledge that a diversity of arrangements is possible."

    <- that is all.

Fcuk off with that, the low corp tax is why all the large multinationals that are stil here, are still here. If thats being introduced I can see a viable reason to leave the EU.

The government that is in power when/if this comes in may as well be signing the country's death certificate.

Do you trust our government to use the veto option?

Leave the EU  Ganley correct

FFS read about it first the EU is forcing no country to adhere to the same tax rate

"The new EU law would not force countries to introduce the exact same rate of corporation tax, but rather would introduce a common formula on how to calculate the tax on the profits of multinational companies."

Maybe the people unwittingly ticked their own death warrant box at the polls during the 'Ah c'mon stop acting the maggot and vote Yes' referendum (Lisbon II).

Is it not a common tax base that the EU would like - people always mix this up with a common tax rate.

    Ill informed again methinks.

They've been talking about it for many years. It's a common basis, with member states allowed to set their own rates that they want. It's not going to happen as it requires unanimity, and the UK and Ireland, along with the Netherlands, Luxembourg and a host of other states will pretty much always be against it.

I wouldn't trust them to to cross the road, never mind anything else more complicated!

That will never get off the ground, as the Germans are strongly against any form of EU wide Tax. They have stated a few times that that would be the stage where they would consider leaving the EU.

Did you just read the words "he welcomes" and underline them without due regard to the rest of the sentence?

Of course, if he hadn't he wouldn't have been able to create this hilarious thread in which people make ill informed and in some cases completely unfunny remarks about people, duh!:o
