have an iphone 4 on 4.0.1 jailbroken. factory unlock (thank god). no Shsh blobs saved.

want to pass this to the girlfriend. is there a way to wipe everything but not restoring?ie setting up as new without needing to connect to itunes to update (which im sure might happen to 4.1 - hence losing jailbreak).

    thanks

I think, though I am open to correction, you would have to set it up as a new phone on her iTunes. You could delete all personal data passwords ( other girlfriends numbers etc) but it would always be recognized by iTunes as your phone.
Think your safest bet is to restore to new using iTunes. I'm sure it won't be that long before there is a jailbreak for 4.1 or 4.2 if that's when the next one comes along.

Are you sure your shsh's are not on cydia?
If not you may be in some bother I'm afraid as you need them to restore to 4.01

yeah im sure there is no tss. cydia let me badly down. it keeps saying pending tss request. i remember making my life easier way back and it always remained this way. i didnt know about tinyumbrella at the time and thought if its pending then im sure its going to happen.

have 4.0.2 on shsh now, (old baseband - you never know).

i might try the setup as new thing and see what gives.

Have you tried this advice here?

I'm so sick of people posting wrong advice, Ill say it again once and for all

The SHSH blobs are used to downgrade you phone from a higher firmware version to a lower one. So for example, you have firmware 4.0.1, and you accidentally upgrade to 4.1 you can add saurik's server to your host file and downgrade.

If however you have not upgraded your phone and you simple wish to restore to your current firmware version, you simple download it, and do a shift click restore (click on restore while holding down the shift key), this will prompt you with a window where you can select your firmware file and restore as normal.

We have gone over this about 6 times now, so mixednuts, unless you know what you are talking about, please refrain from giving advice, especially the advice you gave the OP, not only unhelpful but panic educing.

im still in two minds about it as i keep thinking since apple stopped signing the 4.0.1 that it will not recognise, hence not update, but all the while still screw up things making me update anyway.
