Losing the run of itself

Why do threads on Boards sometimes 'lose the run of themselves' or go off-topic as it were.

    Is it because:

    a) sometimes OP's post a thread in such a way as to guarantee this happening

    b) some people don't always think/post logically

    c) sometimes people read what they want to into an OP

    d) divilment, not quite madness or even badness just divilment

So, in short why do thread go off-topic and 'lose te run of themselves'?

I am not entirely sure what kind of cheese you are referring too but I am referring too the types that are made from milk!

Edam, cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan are the usual and even goats cheese would be one of my favourites! :o
