Installed instapaper app on iphone. Also installed the "read later" on my pc so as to sych to iphone for offline reading.

However, if I'm surfing on my iphone, how do I save material to instapaper on the iphone itself, so that when I'm not in a wifi area I can read it on phone?

I can't seem to figure it out....

    Great app btw

In the app go to settings and choose "install instapaper in safari." it brings you step by step how to add it, essentially you create a new bookmark in safari, then the app gives you some jacascript code which you paste into the new bookmark, replacing the bookmark's URL. The idea being that when you find a page you want to save, you go to bookmarks and try and "visit" the instapaper bookmark, the JavaScript is run and you get a little popup to show it's been saved.

It's also worth noting that a lot of apps have Instapaper saving functionality built in. I use the excellent Reeder app to go through all my RSS feeds at various points throughout the day - if I find any stories I'm interested in but don't have time to read them, I can send them to Instapaper straight from Reeder and have them synched for offline viewing as well. Reeder + Instapaper are probably my two most frequently used apps.
