Well Lads,Just wondering who would your favourite jockey at the moment?

For me on the flat it would be Paul Hanagan and Kieron Fallon in the UK.

For me on the Jumps it would be Paddy Brennan and Sam Twiston-Davies in the UK.

In Ireland on the Flat it would be Declan McDonagh or Danny Grant.

On the Jumps Paul Townend and Shay Barry would be my favourites.

Another question,Who would be your Favourite Trainer in the UK and Ireland?

Don't really have favourite jockeys specific to a code just favourite jockeys over all and they would be in no particular order richard hughes, Daryll holland and william buick.

They really do sway me towards a horse every time. Can be annoying though when i already have my horse picked and i see them in the race.

chris catlin a brilliant strong jockey always gives 100%.
    seb Saunders very clever jockey
absolute hate Jamie Spencer and dettori the amount of horses their stopping at the moment is shocking yet they always get away with it

Favourite flat in the UK would be Adrian Nicholls but ultimately Jimmy Fortune.
Jumps over there would be Adrian Maguire or Choc.
Flat over here would probably be Johnny Murtagh, jumps maybe Paul Townend. Favourite trainer would probably be John Gosden or Henry Cecil.
And I just did the worst smelling fart.

Jamie Spencer - Loved him when he was at Ballydoyle and loved him even more when he fought back and won championship in Britain the following year. Would be great to see him get another shot at the big one when Murtagh is done.

Favourite trainer in Ireland is Aidan O'Brien.
Favourite trainers in the UK are Brian Meehan and Michael Bell. Great to see Cecil back on top this year too.

I heard someone say they think Julian Leparoux could get the job

that Leparoux guy has some record for a young jockey. Does he work with one of the big american stables.

Being french would his top job not eventually be top jock for Alan Royer-Dupre and the Aga Khan?

I think I might have mentioned this before, but when it comes to the jumps, in terms of natural ability, Paul Carberry is pretty incredible. He's especially fantastic at handling horses over a jump. Obviously he's had a few incidents off the track that haven't exactly helped him on his way, and apart from Harchibald, a couple of transient assorted others from Noel Meade's (Nicanor, Sausalito Bay etc.) and his Grand National win, the "big horse" never really came along to put his name in the big race record books. Still a great horseman though. Nursed Beef Or Salmon to a couple of big race wins actually, quite a feat with such an in and out horse.

Tony McCoy would have to be mentioned in any list of all time greats...I'm not keen on his usual style - being bullish works with some horses, but not so much with others. Sometimes, it looks like he just doesn't click with the more "delicate" horses (Best Mate's King George with McCoy up wasn't pretty). When horses respond to his tactics he can be very impressive though - I'm thinking of races like Brave Inca in the Champion Hurdle!

In terms of trainers, since a few people have mentioned them, my favourite jumps trainer would be Nicky Richards - he has a small string (now diminished by owner sellups), but he does well with what he has. Monet's Garden is the obvious leading light, but he also produced some nice horses like Faasel (racked up a good few wins in the North as a youngster and took a second in the Triumph), Andytown (started as a bumper with Richards, eventually took, I think, the Coral Cup after being transferred to Nicky Henderson), Premier Dane - won a handicap at the Cheltenham festival, can't remember which one at the moment. He did particularly well at Aintree for a couple of years running, and generally has a nice Northern strike rate.

    Hey Luther,

I agree with what you say about AP, I dunno if you saw this race (I just uploaded it), for me this could be the best NH ride ever, AP at his best. If I had put the bet on in the bookies I would have torn the slip up from 4 out.

AP is in gold, green silks, white cap and Wichita has a big white face.

    Enjoy :)

The horse died after the race,or at a later date I can't remember, what a pity,it ran a hell of a race that day.

That was one of the best rides I've seen from any jockey. I remember watching it at home on the TV that day - unforgettable ride.

I loved the Lineman, poor fella suffered a heart attack after falling at the 1st in the Irish National the same year, it was desperate to watch he got up and then just collapsed :(
