Friend recently gave me a webcam. Found out it was a sonix, downloaded the drivers but will not install. Tried multiple variations. Install/uninstall drivers, connect/disconnect webcam etc.,c Any suggestions ? Tried updating drivers from device manager but will only update from a cd-rom. So will i have to burn one with the downloaded drivers

What operating system are you using. What is the model of the webcam.

Xp home. Well the chip is a sonix SN9C101. The driver available was the 102 chipset so I downloaded that.

The clip seems to be used with a number of different webcams so it is possible that the driver you downloaded with not work. IE Nokia used the clip in their phones.

It is a pretty old camera and i don't seem to be able to find much information that may help.

Given the cheap prices of webcams these days you may be better off picking something up on ebay or from local computer shop.
