    Hey everyone,

A lot of people on campus are experiencing difficulty using UL websites. You need to change your proxy settings by following the guide below.

not sure if point 9 is correct in the PDF - bypass proxy for *.ul.ie

    eg www.si.ul.ie

also should it be student-proxy.ul.ie instead of staff-proxy.ul.ie
    or maybe both will work

student-proxy.ul.ie and staff-proxy.ul.ie will both work.

It's ok to bypass the proxy for *.ul.ie because if you're inside the network UL's internal DNS services will take care of resolving those addresses. The proxy is there to allow access to external sites.

ok but the problem is people cant access www.si.ul.ie etc from on-campus accommodation, and the solution is to use the proxy.

but excluding *.ul.ie means we arent using the proxy for www.si.ul.ie, so you still cant access it

Ah right....the network used by the villages might be logically separated from the campus network which would explain why you need to use the proxy.
