    Really?

    Really?
Apologies.. he's still alive and well. For some reason, I thought he died recently!

But it was due to a conversation I had with a friend in the last few weeks saying that I hadn't seen him in much recently, but then remembered he had small roles in films like 'Sin City'.

Doesn't he run an independent film studio now, or something? I think that's what takes up most of his time.

edit: just looked him up and he's been in quite a few films lately. He also teached film studies as well.

Out of curiousity, is this based on anything or is it just a new grindhouse flick? For some reason for the first few seconds I thought it was based off of a comic book, certainly had that feel.

Can't wait to see it either way!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,976 ✭✭✭✭humanji

I don't think it's based on anything. I think when asked to come up with a trailer for Deathproof, someone just suggested a hobo with a shotgun and they made a trailer of it.

The guys who made it won a Grindhouse trailer competition I think.

Here's the original Grindhouse trailer for comparison:

That might explain why he's in this, it looks pretty low budget.

Some sweet lobby cards can be seen over at Twitch. I'd buy the below as a quad poster (hope they do that for the UK and Ireland market)

    Looks f*cking sweet alright.

That "Nasty Nick" in it too? :)

This movie just looks amazing! its incredible the amount of fake grindhouse trailers becoming movies (or rumoured to be), going to be class!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 151 ✭✭AaronEnnis

The lad who gets his head pulled off in the trailer is none other than Robb Wells. (Ricky from Trailer Park Boys). Cant wait for this one, I was impressed with Machete.

On the basis of that trailer it looks like it will be most/all man made special effects.Thats what you want in a gore movie, not crap loads of shite CGI,Im pretty excited about this I must say. When is it out and what chance does it have of even getting any kind of general release?

Amazing. I wonder how many cinemas will refuse to put it up though.

Anyone know what sort of release this is going to get here, if any?

    Quite looking forward to it.

Must say though, that the original trailer they did for Grindhouse doesn't look up to much.

I dunno, the original trailer won the SXSW competition (to get included on Grindhouse), and now it's a feature length film. Someone must have thought it was up to something.

    Cannot f**king wait. Look awesome.

LOL! :D - just finished watching it, first 15 mins are a bit slow but then all hell breaks loose!, i was laughing that the OTT action, blood and cringey dialogue throughout. It's DEFINATELY "so bad it's good" quality.

Highly recomended!....it's absolutely bonkers, it's firmly tongue-in-cheek from cheesy effects, gore, blood splattering everywhere, countless killings, even children get flamethrowed! ;)

It's got a pretty decent budget tbh, at least it looks half decent budget wise. Hauer is hamming it up every scene, you have these redicilious characters with hammy/deliberate OTT acting....but it works!, The Plague have some kick-ass! costumes!

It's 85 mins of carnage, pulp and cringe....great stuff!

    4/5

has anyone seen the trailer for this, more grindhouse fun

^ that's not Grindhouse, way too slick, Robert Rodriguez stuff.

well it's more of a parody of RR's stuff maybe

from the badass priest to the guitar/gun toting mariachis

"Don't", Edgar Wrights contribution to the Grindhouse trailers, gets my vote for the next trailer-to-feature transformation. Looks like a classic Hammer Horror.

Yea, crazy film alright. Nice to see Hauer and a shotgun back together again.

Completely OTT but would be a good laugh to watch with some beers and mates. I'm not a big fan of these types of films but this had funny and crazy moments in it.

Step 3. Wait for the internet crowd.. waiit foor iiit.. hooold...

    Step 4. Profit

It's showing in the IFI in May as one of Horrorthon's late night double bills, with 'Re-Animator'.

think you could be right about step 1,
often have you seen a slick trailer the promises so much yet fails to deliver, hope I'm wrong but this could be an awful mess.

The best film since Bad Taste. Some of the greatest lines used in movie history. 11 out of 10 :D

I saw this last night, really disappointed with it. I was expecting something like Machete which I loved but this was short on the humour and violence of Machete.

It started out promising with some gory scenes and a few funny lines, but then there were some 'serious' scenes which slowed things down, and then it just got weird with some metal samurais and the violent scenes only involved shotguns which weren't funny. The ending was bad too, it just ended and the credits came on.

    5/10

Can you just pay to see Re-Animator? Because there's no way I'm watching Hobo again.

Far as I know, it's a two-for-one thing, so you can just stay in the bar until 'Re-Animator', if you want.
