It would be a great time to get any machine work that needed doing such as opening drains, cutting hedges etc before you reseed

I also have a few acres to reseed, hoped to get it done now but it is not even sprayed off yet so i think too late which is a pity cause i think reseeding works alot better this time of year with less weeds coming in it than seeding in the spring. The ground is very bad with rushes so was thinkin it would be a great job to spray off now with roundup and plough and leave it like that for the winter to kill the rushes, howevr i am told this is not allowed with area aid, is this true? .And if this is the case what would happen if i had it ploughed now with the intention of seeding and just could not due to weather or too late etc ?

I would agree with you on reseeding this time of year, I've burnt off over a week ago and just waiting until the end of next week to till and sow seed.

I'm thinking the same as you that they're should be less weeds coming in the sward this time of year as the grass should respond better than the weeds and therefore become better established than same reseeding in spring when grass and weeds will grow at the same rate

I reseeded about 80 acres lact spring, came in at about €230 per acre, that included spraying off first, ploughing, rolling, 2 x power harrow, seed, 150kg fert per acre and roll in. Worked out really well, loads of grass.

I agree with Shauny that it is also a great time to get machine work done, like drains, sitches, hedges etc

Wow, its going to cost the bones of €15,000 to do mine . Have no other option but to get in a contractor to do all the work.

I am in the same boat. Sprayed off but waiting for weather to pick up before i can do it. Huge amount of rain here last week and checked the forecast for next week. Its not great either.
Hopefully we get one more good week in september as the year is moving on for growing grass seed.

Would you not think of doing it in stages.

Thats allot of cash to be paying out in one year.
