I've been in some very bad taxi's in the past.

An Avensis that violently swerved to the left every time the driver touched the brakes comes to mind. I made him pull over and let me out as I feared for my life.

However in general I find them to be good. Having said that, I've not checked the thread depths etc. on them :p

Just goes to show ya that a newer car dosent make it a safer/better taxi.

A friend spotted the same on his TT a couple of weekends ago, some folk don't check these things regularly.

The NCT is the only way some of these chancers will ever change their ways. Considering a taxi has one every year he must have been borderline legal last time it went through or else he got a swap of a set from a mate to get him through.

Not true, I go through two sets of tires a year, it depends on milage and type of driving not time.

...and that's what should be done. Instead of the stupid attitude in this country that assumes just because a car is older it's sh1te; there should be a scrupulous NCT that only allows cars in tip-top condition to work as taxis.

Car was less than 10 yeas old so new in my eyes and good even by the new Taxi standards.

Maintenance was the problem here, that and hitting kerbs by the look of things. I could break a brand new car in the same way.
