Sickness after Drinking small amounts of Beer.

    Hey Guys

Recently ive been having a problem the day after having a few pints.
First off im 28 reasonably fit and healthy and dont have any medical problems that i know of.

The thing is when i was younger i used to do what all young lads done, go out get blind drunk stumble home and fall asleep. In my late teens i would regularly get up fresh the next day and do it all again without a problem.
Now i do know that as you get older the body cant cope just the same and the "hangover" gets worse.
This is cool i do expect it.
Recently however ive been getting very ill the morning after only having a couple of drinks. I mean 2-4 drinks. Its not like a hangover. I have no headache but i feel very ill and want to run to the toilet to be sick. I was never like this and find it quite odd.
I dont know what started this but i do know that it started around the time that my local had what they called a "bad batch" of Beers.

Has anyone had or know of anyone that has had these problems?
Any idea how i should treat it?
Is it a case of just giving up? (i could cope with this as im really just a social drinker now)

    Thanks for any help.

    Something to consider...

Sometimes people experience an allergic reaction to alcohol that is not actually an allergy to the alcohol itself but is instead a reaction to another agent in the drink such as chemicals, grains or preservatives.
Allergic reactions to alcohol can also be caused by a number of other ingredients commonly found in alcoholic beverages, especially in beer or wine. Ingredients such as:
    • Sulfur dioxide or other preservatives
    • Chemicals, grains or other ingredients
    • Histamine, a byproduct of fermentation or brewing

Sounds like my idea of hell... not being able to drink beer? Eeek...

Try drinking some craft beer. There are only 4 ingredients in natural craft beer. See how you get on. You might be having a reaction to some additive.

I had a phase of something similar happeing to me.

You could be dehydrated, your tollerance for drink could be down cause you dont drink that much , mines down to lack of funds due to the Recession.

Every one i know says they cant drink as much as when they were a teen, unfortunately them care free days are gone and we must suffer for our bit of fun. Switch your drink maybe. Used drink Bulmers from age 21 to 24 and towards the end i would go home and get sick and get extra drunk (as if id been drinking an extra few pints than i really had)

    Bud suits me for now

You could be developing a gluten intolerence (i.e. Coeliac)

I don't mean to be a scaremonger and I considered sending this as a PM but it might do some good in public.
I know somebody who started to have this problem with beer, which got worse and worse over a period of a year. They had no other symptons. It got so bad that they decided to get it seen to and discovered that they had cancer of the bowel. They weren't much older than the OP.
May well be just an allergic reaction but might be prudent to get it investigated with the above in mind. Bear in mind that it took a lot of persistence and time to discover what was wrong.
Hope you understand why I posted that.

OP, there are many things it could be (chronic pancreatitis can be linked to alcohol for example) , the internet is perhaps not the best place to be reassured that you'll be OK.

Go see your GP who will do some simple tests to ensure it's not something more serious.

I'm 28 too and only in the last few months i have started to get really sick too. My stomach feels like there's a ball of fire in it all the next day and i am wretching(sp) all day(never actually get sick)!! :(
I have started to take my sisters stomach tablets(nexium) i know i shouldnt but i love my social life - and HATE the awfull hangover. They're actually great!!
I am starting to think maybe i am developing an allergic reaction to something in the beer.

So OP i know how you feel, but have no answers for you i'm afraid. Maybe try changing your drink?

    Bud is my tipple:D

It could also be a gastric ulcer.
As said, see a (good) GP (if you can find one, let me know!)

An Internet forum is not the place to seek advice on this. Go and get checked out fully by your GP. Hope it's nowt serious.
