    Hello,

Was hoping someone could help me.

My mechanic was quoting between 500 and 600 euro for a new timing belt and water pump to be fitted.

I came accross this on the web.

    http://www.irishautoparts.ie/special-offers/special-offer-timing-belt-water-pump-kits/astra-vectra-zafira-timing-belt-kit-and-water-pump-iaptbwp001.html

I'm sure there are obvious reasons why not to, but can anyone tell me why I shouldn't order this and then have a mechanic fit it?

Any help / advice really much appreciated.
Dont know about your particular mechanic, but a lot do not want to touch parts not sourced by them, as they cant stand over them, and makes it harder for them to guarantee the repair.

Opel main dealers had a promotion running some time back to supply and fit timing belt, tensioner, and water pump for around €350. Dunno if it is finished or not, be TBH I'd ring and get a quote as most are hungry for work right now.
