Since there appears to be such a different with the operators, i said it'd be a good idea to have a thread to see who actually offers the best speeds....

I'm currently on meteor, and the connection is 100% stable!
5bars of 3g everywhere, accept my bedroom, where i took the speed test reading last night!

Still with 3 bars of 3g signal, i can get THIS SPEED!

download the speedtest app, and post pics also!

No pics, no proof, as they say! :)

I'll post mine shortly! Could you mention locations as well, It'll probably be of help for people who are choosing a service based on it's 3G capabilities.

You are on the Limerick server too. I get faster speeds if I pick Paris instead of dublin for some reason.

    I'm based in Dungarvan, Co.Waterford.

i only used the limerick server, as it comes up for me as default.....

Ah I was not suggesting you were manipulating servers to get improved results, I was just noting that different servers can give different results.

Op, how you getting 6mb downloads, that's almost as quick as my laptop!!!
I can only get those speeds when I'm connected to my wireless router.

Yep, your deffo not on a wireless network, no?

Just looked through my reports and I get 7.5 on my network at home and the highest I got from 3G is 2.5.

You can clearly see from my screen shot that i am on 3g!

My wireless speeds at home on the wireless network are 10mpbs +

It would seem the iPhone 4 can handle better upload speed, I've rarely got more than 400 yet most of you are getting near 1mb, I'm on a 3GS

When i was on 3, my connection was very very very intermittent!

I could have speeds of up to 3mbps one second and speeds of 0.09 the next!

I'm yet to notice an issue like that, And when I do it's due to signal usually.

I think since they've got the NBS they could afford to/had to invest more in their network infrastructure to provide a service with speeds comparable to that of eircoms basic package. As a result 3 mobile customers now get a more stable service too, I think if they didn't get the service it wouldn't be much better than what you describe.

You're in Dublin City centre, The OP was in Waterford, Chances are there's alot more people in Dublin using meteor broadband and phones on the network compared to Waterford.

I wasn't even aware that meteor mobile broadband was available in Waterford( thought it was still Cork and Dublin ) so chances are the OP had alot less users connected and using the connection while he was.

Phew! I was getting barely a third of what the OP was and was starting to wonder.

speed tests can vary wildly, the best way to check ur speed is start a download
multiply the speed it gives by 8 and that will give the speed in the same format as speedtest
