Asking about wages?

This is probably a silly simple question but I've got to get another opinion on it.

So I'm starting a new job soon and during the interview stages, we had discussed the rate per hour, overtime and how many hours I'll be working a week. All grand.
Unfortunately (probably because I was delighted at being offered a job!), I forgot to ask about when we would be paid-weekly,fortnightly, monthly and also if we needed to work a back month/week etc.

Today I received my second email from the company with other information and they have stated that if I have any questions to feel free to contact them.
Should I ask about it now? Or wait until I start working?
How do I ask the above question in a way that it's not seen as impolite or only concerned about the monetary side of it? Also in a way that I don't just get told the hourly rate/standard hours information back.

I have a great work relationship with my current manager that I don't feel weird asking these questions!

Just say something along the lines of, you want to get your finances in order in preparation for the new job, could you tell me if the pay is paid-weekly,fortnightly, monthly? also is there any back weeks you would have to account for?

    Simples.

    Thanks for that! Perfect!
I spend 20 minutes trying to word it so it didn't sound impolite!
Swear I worry too much about asking these type of questions.
