I am currently living in renmore and it actually works out cheaper for me to stay here and get a taxi into college every morning(hope to be able to afford a car soon) Is this just a complete waste of money or does anyone know of any cheap housing estates around newcastle? I would happily take the bus in the mornings but I have to drop my daughter off at nuig creche on the upper newcastle road, and ye know the way the weather is atrocious in galway in the winter? any views on this?

Wow, how much you paying on rent? If you have a daughter i would assume your not going to be looking to live with students so maybe thats why it would work out cheaper! I paid 80 quid a week for a double room the last time i lived in newcastle. Doubt its too much different now!

Get some good waterproofs for you and your daughter and take the bus.

Otherwise, I just rented a place near Newcastle, about a 5-10 minute walk from the college for €60 a week. Keep an eye on the Advertiser.
