netbook comparison

I will be going off on the motorbike for a few months in the spring and a lot of the people ive spoken to about it have told me a netbook is worth its weight in gold to have with me. i am currently looking at 2 models , a wind u100 for 210 squids in argos and an emachine em350 in pcworld for 250 squids

the only real difference is the wind has an atom n270 and the emachine has an n450, for the extra 40 squids is it really worth it for the cpu? is the 450 noticeable better than then 270, also if anyone knows which of the 2 would be the more comfortable and if i can get similar specced books any cheaper.

I understand acer own emachines now and acer are pretty good in my experience with them so what are the emachines like?

are there any interesting developments in the netbook world like a cpu update or similar that it would be worth waiting for?

Dual core atoms seem to be coming out soon (they were meant to be just on the horizon for a long time now but I've heard of devices being released that have them so it looks more likely now). Depending on how much the dual core raises the price it may be worth waiting for. Being honest I'd probably spend the extra and get an 11" or 12" ultra portable. The processor and resolution of the netbook really let it down and I should know I own one (never use it any more though :D).

The n470 is the better processor I think. MSI wind was one of the first netbooks out and got pretty good reviews, I'd say the current versions are still pretty good

...Like the price of some of those in argos, just have some concerns. Need it for college, doing some bits and peices on the train etc...Windows, Web and maybe a few tunes and some vids.

    So Need the following;

    <€350
    Windows
+4/5Hrs Continuos Use Battery Life (if more, even better)
    WiFi
    10" or thereabouts Screen
    Nice big HD
    Fast processor

    In that order...

    Cheers.

Ok. So I have looked high and low, and I am going for a Samsung N150 or N230. The battery life sold it for me. Had a look and feel of the N150 in currys at the weekend and loved it.

Obviously the latter is the best option but I can't find it for less than 350. Any links? Or any pointers to a netbook with similar spec and a tad cheaper?

    Cheers.
