ADVICE PLEASE F1 valencia 2011

Hey there,

I'm looking for advice on a once in a lifetime trip for my dad. He's going to be 60 next year and he's a f1 fanatic. He's always wanted to go to see a grand prix but hes never got a chance so for his birthday I wanted to treat him to it. I was thinking Valencia because he likes the sun and it's a bit later in the year so it would be warmer than Barcelona and more affordable than Monaco. If anybody can give me any advice on whether it better to book a package or to book things (hotels/ flights) seperate and whats the best way to go about booking in general.

P.S. Does anyone know when the calender for 2011 is going to be published?

hi, thanks a million for getting back to me so soon. i didn't realize the calender wasn't out til so late in the year!
So what would you recommend? Where are the best tracks? i want to organise a weeks holidays in the sun for the same time, if the english one is good i could take him there and then fly off somewhere for a week. What time of the year do you book all the flights and accommodation? as soon as the calender comes out?

The provisional calendar was released today. My advice to you would be to book Race tickets as far in advance as possible from the tracks themselves. For me Spa in Belgium with Gold 4 Eau Rouge is the Best place to view a Grand Prix but the chances of a wet race in Belgium are high and the temps are low.

Some Grand Prixs though maybe its better to buy a Packet (like Monaco).

The Monaco Grand Prix is on 29th of May> Could be Good on a Packet. Ask for a seat at the swimming pool complex - Ive heard thats good. Always Bring wet weather gear - even at Monaco. I learned that at Hungary.

My father , who is alos an F1 Fanatic also went to Velencia this year, he thought it was alright, he said you view was fairly limited due the the fencing ect but he managed to get a seat way up high in the grandstand near the last corner and said it was good enough not a lot happening there but he did say that its worth going just for the noise alone, even if the action wasnt that great can always say he has been there. if ya want more details i'll ask him for ya, but he did stay in his house and drove (for 5 hours) to get there but he had a walk round the track for support races i'll ask him on advice on places to watch, he said it was a great atmosphere apart from when the Hamilton an button went round chorus of boos at every corner on every lap , also said the shops / village thingy was decent not overly packed ect.

I was at the first Valencia GP. Of all I have been to, it was the worst for atmosphere. We stayed in a hotel in the city about were about a 10 minutes form the track. The stand we were in was about a 25 minute walk. Our seats were expensive and the stand was not covered (P5). For the same price in the past I have got grandstand tickets for Budapest and Monza.

At the time, we booked flights, hotel and tickets separate.

As others have said, I would recommend Monaco. There are good packages to Monaco and the weekend is not as expensive as it may seem.

The Hungaroring has some very cheap tickets on sale at the moment.

My advice would be stay away from Valencia. Go to somewhere like Monza. Temperatures there are generally mid to late 20's in Sept. Was there last year. As long as you get a good seat, its a great GP
