How do I keep flies from living in my velux windows

Loads of flies seem to be nesting inside my velux windows at the top where they meet the felt from the roof. Everytime I open a velux I'm surrounded by buzzing flies...and in the winter dead or sleeping flies (do flies hibernate:confused::o).

I am so sick of them buzzing all over my bedroom:mad::mad::mad:.

Has anyone any tips of how to keep them away...any smells that keep them away??

you could try the Vapona window stickers.

they do hibernate (overwinter) in attics,

We had a couple of thousand at least last year. ..

There must be room for them to get in or they wouldnt stay there, I suggest
taking a look at the top edge (you can do this from inside) if there are any cavities then fill them with silicone or if it is a big cavity expanding foam filler.

If they have nowhere to overwinter then problem solved :D

Just a thought.....they may have access to your roof space and they might
be hibernating there, a quick spray of fly killer inside the attic then long lasting
    fly deterents should work.

If like me and you hate chemical sprays try, sprinkling some eucalyptus oil on a cotton ball and hang it in the area you don't want flies. Make sure it dosen't touch any surfaces as it can stain.
