    Hi there,

I am going to apply for the NUIM PGDE in for intake in September 2011.

I graduated with a BSc. in Biology & Chemistry from NUIM in 2008.

    Overall, my result was a 2.2 .

Firstly, I am wondering, is this a good enough result to apply for the course with ? Or should I go for a masters ?

Secondly, if I do apply for it, do I need to start applying for Teaching Practice now ?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

    Cheers !

    N

    Hi there

You should check your points against the pac requirements for this year at http://www.pac.ie

But if I were to take a guess I would imagine that no, you don't have enough points. You will probably need to do a masters or some form of postgraduate qualification.

It will not be necessary to apply for teaching practice until you actually secure a place. So if you secure a place for 2011-12 you will begin to look for teaching practice in the April/May stage of 2010.

However, if you want to apply to schools for some teaching practice in the meantime to get a feel for teaching, go ahead.

Hey there - Thanks for the prompt info !

I didn't realise there was a points sytem, and not having my exact college results to hand right now, I can't calculate what mine would be.

I'll post in here again regarding how i get on with this. By hook or by crook, I really want to qualify as a teacher, so if not here in Ireland, then will start looking at other options.

Best Of Luck to all those starting PGDE this month around the country !:D
