It's not too far to Stuttgart, but I don't know if Memmingem is a big enough town to have it's own markets.

Every city in Germany has a Christmas Market. Memmingen is small so the market will not be huge. But it does look decent enough:

We left it a bit late to book flights to Christmas markets last year and on a tight budget/schedule so ended up going to Memmingen for a two nights.

The first evening we stayed in Memmingen, its a nice little town but very very quiet, and the main market is extremely small. There's a couple of other little groups of stalls dotted around the town, but you'd really see everything in a few hours. And the whole place closed very early and then there was little or nothing else to do for the evening.

The following morning we got the train down to Lindau, and that's an excellent market. Lots of stalls, lots of variety, gorgeous setting on the side of the Bodensee, and a lot busier than Memmingen. And there's a lot more to the town outside the market.

I'd recommend flying into Memmingen, spare a few hours to look around the markets there, but then head down to Lindau and stay there.
