Noob: Oil prices and purchasing

A friend kindly pointed out today that my oil tank was most likely larger than 265L (I was using the Campus Oil quote site). Here I was thinking I'd only be out 250Euro for a tank of oil - but it looks like it will be more than 700Euro to fill it. Of course I don't have 700Euro banked up, so a couple of questions:'

    * Are there any oil companies that will allow a monthly payment plan via direct debit? Campus will do it, but you have to buy the first tank in full - pay up front.

    * Who do you think has the best rates in Wicklow Area?

Thanks for any advice. Learning the ins/outs of living in a new country is a challenge!

Most places will offer a standing order scheme where you pay installments each month, and then when you've built up enough credit you can get a fill of oil. Not sure if anywhere will give you a fill and pay bu installments though.

I think your best bet is to find out what the minimum order value is for each company. That way you get some oil and you will just have to keep an eye on the level in the tank a bit more closely so you dont run out.

If you buy the minimum amount you will paya much higher charge per litre.

Buying 500 litres (normally equates to c. half tank fill, with many tanks c.1100 litres), is another option.

I think 250 euro is minimum for most companies. search google for homeheating oil prices (your county)
as a price website based in ireland is available to look at. forget the address.
