Thinking of dropping the UPC digital and getting Freesat. Would like to get a decent rooftop aerial at the same time for DTT. Set-up would be 2 satelite feeds going to the living room to accomodate a PVR and one other feed going to the kids playroom. Aerial would also have two feeds - one to each room.

What sort of cost would be involved for supply and fitting including aerial, dish, brackets and fitting and probably a Humax PVR and a standard Humax receiver.

    Thanks a lot.

You wont need an aerial for excellent quality DTT in D12. I've got a 6 inch single point aerial on top of the TV and getting excellent reception (Stillorgan)

I’m not in “the trade” but here is my two cents anyway.

Expect to pay about 350 sterling (420 euro) in total for the Humax HD and Humax Foxsat HRD online.

Raven dish, 60m of cable and quad lnb is about 70 euro on ebay

Install fee probably depends on how much work is involved. €100 to 150 ??

So you’d be talking € 600 -700 I’d guess for Freesat setup alone

Above assumes you don’t need an aerial for DTT. You don’t say whether you already have a TV capable of receiving DTT – if not then you’ll need a set top box for DDT, and possibly more cabling. Probably looking at an extra € 100 - 200 for DDT on that basis. Advice on this site at the moment is to hold off on buying DDT equipment til the official launch in October.

Overall, it might sound like a lot of money but the hardware alone is pricey.

Both sets are new and MPEG4, have DTT on one set at the moment using a new UHF aerial and its seems fine. Might drop the PVR as I have an excellent Pioneer DVD/HDD for recording but might get the two feeds in the livingroom anyway for future upgrade.

Have seen a few posts from Tony at Satelite.ie and his website seems good. Anybody here use him before.

I'd only get an Humax Foxsat HD PVR. But wait till Saorsat starts (Feb to April maybe) if you are not in a hurry.

At very least get an HD PVR box.
