Freaked out

In the last week I have gone from a lover of all things paranormal, horror, anything goes, to a jumpy freaked out loon.

Loads of things have happened, but all could have an explantion I'm sure, however I am now a scaredy pants. I see the video below of the exorcism and I can't watch it, before I would have probably looked and wished I could see more.

Just one of the things. I was standing out the back (quite close to where me and my husband saw the apparition before) the other night, it was pitch dark, couldn't see in front of me. I was looking for my cat. I felt a swish over my head and a kind of whirrrr noise. Of course it could have been a bat, but other things of the same kind have been happening.

Am I destined to be a scaredy cat from now on?:(:o

Whats gone on thats made you like this within a week? Is it a series of events, or just your mindset? Have you watched films even, to spark your imagination?

Oryx, I am not quite sure why. It's little things like hearing bangs and taps that were never there before (or were they?), drifting off to sleep (I know:o) and thinking/feeling someone is standing there.

I more upset about the fact that I feel afraid now, whereas before I'd be nearly willing things to happen. The sight of a new horror trailer on tv would have me all excited before, and I saw that new one 'Exorcism something?' and I just thought 'No Way, won't be watching that.'

Thats a strange one. :) Something in your mind must have gone from thinking it was all just a laugh to its real, yikes!

Are you particularly stressed over anything (work, home issues, upcoming event) at all?

Thanks for the replies. If anything I would be less stressed recently than the last few years.

I was walking down to bed last night and I was closing one door and I just heard an unusual sound in the far corner of the hallway, I just felt like bursting in to tears.

I always have my dogs with me, so if there was something around us, would the dogs go crazy? (cause they aren't)

Also I can't sleep with the light off now, and last night I was reading and I thought there was a moth in the lampshade (you know the way it flickers), and there wasn't. :o

Fear is a funny thing, it kinda feeds itself. Like when you think youre being followed in the dark, if you run, its so much worse, because youve given into the fear.

The more you fear noises and darkness and all kinds of spooky stuff, the more you will be cautious and uptight about it, and hey presto, it gets worse. Im speaking from years of experience here. :D

So, if you find yourself getting spooked, then ground yourself in reality. Turn on a light, go make tea, play music, read a (happy) book, do something normal. The worst thing you can do is sit feeling scared, and think about it. Relax, and tell yourself you are safe. If your scared of a noise or something, just tell 'it' to bugger off and stop bothering you. That actually works. Probably because it makes you giggle at yourself for talking to nothing.

Thanks a million for the advice. I am going to do exactly that. I really want to watch that video below.:D Will get myself back to normal first. I had all visions of myself having to be blessed by a priest (the things that go through your head late at night). lol

    Poor you quietone.:o

Well I did what Oryx suggested and 'when darkness fell' (LOL) I relaxed and laughed off my fears. Funny thing was explaining to my hubbie what had been going on (He hates anything freaky, so I didn't mention it). So I was saying, 'Well anyway, Oryx from the forum suggested I do this...'. He seemed happy enough that I could cope from the suggestions I got.:D
