DD-WRT???

    Could someone explain to me pls the reason u would install dd-wrt on your router. I know it's to use third party softwRe..but what are the advantages of having this?

    It adds a lot of extra features that sometimes the default firmware just doesn't have. There are probably far too many to list them all out but among the features that I find useful are :

    Static IP addresses via DHCP
    Dynamic DNS
    QOS
    Bandwidth graphing
    Port forwarding that works!
    Detailed status on wireless clients
    Client/bridge mode
    Scheduled commands
    A Linux command prompt

    It's also used so much on so many different devices that it's very reliable and online support is excellent.

    What BHickey said.
    I use it alot - its stable - thats my number one reason.

    After that - its really feature rich.
