Canada beat Ireland by four runs in Toronto one-dayer.

Not a great start to their mini tour.

    Report from BBC:

Ireland suffered a four-run defeat by Canada on the Duckworth-Lewis method in the opening one-day game in Toronto.

The tourists scored 175-9 from their allotted 35 overs with opener Paul Stirling hitting 35 and John Mooney top scoring with 47.

Canada were 163-4 after 33 overs when bad light brought the game to a premature end, with the hosts securing a narrow win.

The second and final ODI between the sides is later on Tuesday.

Ireland squad: Trent Johnston (capt), Andre Botha, George Dockrell, Phil Eaglestone, Allan Eastwood, Nigel Jones, Rory McCann, John Mooney, Kevin O'Brien, Andrew Poynter, Paul Stirling, Albert van der Merwe, Andrew White, Gary Wilson (ODIs only)

If it takes 2.5 hours to bowl 33 overs then you only have yourself to blame if the match gets called off for bad light imo, even 20 mins to bowl the last 3 overs is pretty bad

With that knock by Stirling yesterday, he gets in with some of the top names in Cricket,

    10th - MS Dhoni (Ind) - 183*
    10th - Saurav Ganguly (Ind) - 183
    11th - Vivian Richards (WI) - 181
    11th - Mathew Hayden (Aus) - 181*
    12th - Paul Stirling (Ire) - 177
    13th - Kapil Dev (Ind) - 175*

he now has the 12th highest score in an ODI,

also he is nominated in the Emerging Player of the Year: Mohammad Amir (Pak), Umar Akmal (Pak), Tim Bresnan (Eng), Steven Finn (Eng), Shafiul Islam (BD), Ravindra Jadeja (Ind), Virat Kohli (Ind), Angelo Mathews (SL), Eoin Morgan (Eng), Pragyan Ojha (Ind), Tim Paine (Aus), Wayne Parnell (SA), Kemar Roach (WI), Steven Smith (Aus), Paul Stirling (Ire), David Warner (Aus),

the only player from a Non Test playing Country, not bad at all :D...
