Upgrade to 64bit?

I am looking at purchasing a "Manufacturer Refurbished" laptop as my own needs replacement. Have looked at all the local offerings first.

It has 4GB RAM but only Windows 32bit. Have been told that it will "see" 3.5GB and that it has a CAO licence that allows an upgrade to 64bit, which is needed.

How easy is it to get that upgrade, and can you do it online? Don't want to land myself with a white elephant here.

    Appreciate any comments

    TIA

In general I'd stay well away from "refurbished " computers as, in my experience, they've generally been refurbished for a reason and are much more likely to fail than a new laptop. There's enough value out there that you don't need need to buy anything that comes with a history.

Well that all depends. I've bought a couple of laptops from dell outlet in the past(over 2 years ago at this stage) which were all "refurbished" and they were all perfect.
