    Is there a site out there that would easily tell you the car tax on a "new" car, if you were car-shopping ?

    If i was to get a "new" car, then i would want to go minimum 2008 because i wouldn't pay the old exorbitant car tax rates anymore

    Band B: cars that produce 121g - 140g/km CO2 - €156 road tax;
    Band C: cars that produce 141g-155g/km CO2 - €302 road tax;
    Band D: cars that produce 156g-170g/km CO2 - €447 road tax;
    Band E: cars that produce 171g-190g/km CO2 - €630 road tax;

    Remember that used car prices are a function of (among other things) car tax rates - any savings will already be reflected in the price you pay for a car.

    Fiesta 1.4 TDCi is €104 to tax per year. The Fiesta 1.6 TDCi is not offered in Ireland.

    It shows the manual as band "B"
    It shows the Multitronic as band "C"

    Are you looking at Multitronic in the garages?

    My Octavia Vrs CR170 IS BAND "C" €302

    They were in band C for a while and then got into band B when they made a change to the engine/emissions. Any 143BHP built before week 22 in 2008 is in band C.

    Soolll let me get this one straight
    The 136bhp 2008 A4 is band A with 120g/kg
    The 141bhp SE 08 A4 comes in both band B and Band C depending on when in 08 it came out
    The 120bhp A4 is Band B
    little confusing as to why the 136bhp is band A and the 120bhp is band B, who in their right mind would buy the 120bhp model then, hmmmmm

    Motortax have changed their site in the last coupe of weeks, they used to just have a pdf with all the tax bands. But last time I went to check you have to put in a license plate no. and it would tell you how much tax you'll pay.

    Correct, must be very hard sell the 08 audi a4 140bhp with €302 road tax when the same car can be bought with €156 road tax if its built after may 2008

    136BHP is €1,250 more than the 120BHP. It'll be many years before you recoup the saving between band A and band B motor tax.
    hmmmmmmmm :rolleyes:

    If you're looking to buy a 143BHP you should check which motor tax it has and ensure it's priced appropriately. Simples.
